Maggie’s Thoughts
May 6 &7, 2006
Abbottsford, BC

Off we went to Abbotsford for another great Fly ball tournament.  We had practiced hard and were helping our new Spok-9 team; It’s a Miracle with their debut.  We knew that we would be busy trying to keep our handlers focused on all three teams.  It almost worked, but like always their efforts were riddled with goof ups.  In spite of the handlers CJ, Acorn, Ruby, Casper, Jeff and Puma had a great weekend

Lets get to the fun stuff.

• Our first stop was at Banks Lake for a rest and lunch. As we left dad proceeded to run over a large garbage can. Maggie

• Mom was suppose to catch up with the caravan at Banks Lake, but drove right past without stopping. Scrappy

• I thought it was going to be a short trip so at Pandy and Holly’s I saw an open window and jumped out. Mom really gave me the dickens. Ruby

• You guys were lucky; Rani and I had to travel to WSU then travel all night to get to Abbottsford. We did stop somewhere for a few winks at a motel. Lacey

• Friday mom started getting sick again. I think she is allergic to fly ball. It was good that we had many poop bags as she up chucked all the way. Holly

• When we got to Abbotsford mom and John went to get a large tarp for the camp floor. They were gone so long that I thought they were lost. Tesse

• I knew by noon Friday that it would be a quiet weekend since mom was loosing her voice. It was great. Buster

• I can’t believe that mom had eye surgery on Thursday and traveled on Friday. She is one dedicated and tough gal. Casper

• Mom and Debbie sure are easy. It took them all day to realize that I was eating anything eatable in the car. I figure if they continue to call me fat I will continue to eat everything. The great part was watching mom deal with my diarrhea. Ruby

• After Saturday’s victory party at the Mexican restaurant, the restaurant refused to seat us Sunday evening. I was so embarrassed. Rani

• After all the fun on Saturday I was proud of the way we ran on Sunday and ended up in second place. By then Dorothy was doing a reasonable job running me. Puma

• After all the attention the Miracles received, I got ticked off and decided to pee on the course to show my disgust. I held up the tournament for about 20 minutes. Mom’s face was bright red. What a hoot!!!! Eddi

• Eddi, I see why you get mad when Patty gets credit for 00.0 starts, I got some and Papa took credit. That will change in the future. Annie

• Dad got caught throwing the ball so Jim gave him this dumb ball on a string. I decided that I better use it this time but I’m not sure about chasing that thing in the future. Pandy

• Mom got 3 bad passes in a row and blamed Dexter and me. Nonsense!!!!!!!!! Rani

• Why did mom use me to motivate Maggie? If Maggie can’t carry the load then pull her and let a real veteran take over. Bill

• Since mom was sick, I decided this was not the time to test her moods. Scrappy

• Sunday’s victory party must have been a wild one. The first story was that mom came home in a taxi – then I heard that she was stuffed in a grocery cart basket and pushed back to the motel. I hope to never know for sure. Eddi

• That border-crossing officer was sure grouchy – he pulled everything out of the pickup then carelessly threw it back in and slammed the back door. When he yelled at mom I almost bit him. Tesse

• Don’t give up Eileen as we are going to Victoria soon. Dad might find the right dog for you at that tournament. Maggie

This was a great trip. We were very busy but why else would we go – it would be foolish to travel that far and not run hard for two days. Even with the third team our handlers seemed to muster the energy to keep up with us. It was funny to watch some of them in support roles that they had not practiced.

The results were impressive. The Flyers placed 2nd on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday. The Hauling Hot Dogs placed 4th on Saturday and 1st on Sunday. And our hats are off for The Miracles with their placing of 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. I think that we have a good chance of placing first in Victoria. I wonder what kind of a victory party would that cause?
