Stanwood, WA

August 20 & 21, 2005

On to Stanwood for more fly ball hosted by the Canadians.  We love the Canadians for their great canine events.  The weather was cool and dry and our camp had plenty of shade.  It was a perfect combination for great fun.

Again we enjoyed the support of our team handlers and helpers.  Thanks to Debbie and Dorothy for box setting; Deb, Patty and David for Photos; Carolyn and Dorothy for treats; Jon, David and Tricia for stats; Seth and Taylor as ball chasers and John for helping anytime needed.

We welcomed Samson to his first tournament.  Thanks John and Tammy for bringing him.

Well, another great time filled with plenty of things we K9’s can laugh about.  Is there any end to the laughs our Moms and Dads supply for Maggie’s thoughts?  Lets get started reporting.

·  Like Maggie, I have been hoping for a new handler and I thought my wishes had been answered until I saw Dad arrive late Friday evening.  I thought he had a commitment at WSU. Kenneth must have ditched him?   Lacy.

·  Why was Mom driving around the Motel parking lot with the car door open and Deb trying to catch up?  It was not very nice, but it was funny.   Eddi

·   Mom sure comes up with weird excuses to leave the event just to get Papa a special Starbuck drink.  Annie

·  Never have I seen so many crazy dogs chasing dirty old tennis balls.  Samson

·  Did you see the looks on our parent’s faces when I refused to run practice runs Saturday?  It’s so much fun to screw with their heads.  Dexter

· Why is our first run always a train wreck?  It makes Mom crazy.  Rani

·  Has anybody on the Flyers team figured out Mom’s coaching signals?  Holly

·  I was very embarrassed when Mom tripped Carolyn after she launched Holly.  Rani

·  Don’t worry Rani; I heard Mom got a perfect 10 for a double reverse gainer.   Holly

·  Who chose the music and decided to put that Blues Clues air tent at the end of the course?  After a couple runs I could no longer focus on racing.  Parker

·  I am still asking for a different handler.  Did you see Dad’s passing?  It was so late that I had to run like heck just to get under 5 seconds. Maggie

· Thanks fellow K9s for helping me get my Fly ball Dog and Flyball Dog Excellent titles.  I don’t know why Mom hoot and hollered – I did all the running.   Samson

·  Who was the big guy that shook hands with Taylor when I got the triple zero start?  And why didn’t he give me a cookie, I got the perfect start.  Annie

·  Where was Mom when the Flyers needed me?   Probably socializing.  Buster

·   I sure showed those young pups what a veteran looks like on the course.  Bill

·  Mom better order Dad a new hat.  He still grabs his head after launching me and the hat will soon be ragged and worn.  Pandy

·  I sure love Holly.  Buster

·  I sure fooled David. He thought he could catch me with that old steak as a treat. I stuck with my plan to circle him twice before being caught. And I still got the steak.  Bill

·  I found that if I faked sleep and placed my nose against the crate, showing my teeth, I would get to run in the next race.  Annie

· I hope they noticed that I am really fast when running forth.  I love it!  Holly

· Why did the waitress at the Saturday night victory party come to our race camp Sunday morning?  Did Mom over celebrate Saturday night?  Eddi

·  Was Mom really under the table at the victory party Saturday night?  Annie

·  Good golly, I liked the cool weather for racing – it was great.  Rani

·  Right on Rani – it felt so good.  I think that I ran my best tournament ever.  Pandy

·  On Sunday Mom seemed a little lethargic during a race so I bit her to wake her up.  Buster

·  So I ran on the wrong lane. Big deal. I would have lost my status as Mr. Stud if I hadn’t crossed over to the other lane and tried to meet the Tiffany.  She was obviously the cutest dog at the tournament. I think I’m in love!  Dexter

·   The ride home was fun until Debbie asked me to stop counting aloud all the passing cars.  Samson

·    If anybody has any extra sunglasses could you give them to Mom – she looses hers every time the sun shines.  Annie

·  Mom seemed pleased that I decided to run this tournament.  Actually it’s very boring to get benched and watch from the tent.  Scrappy

·   Why did Mom give the Judge a big hug after the tournament?  Holly

·  Dad said he needed to leave for WSU right after the Sunday tournament.  Nonsense.  I think he was running from the embarrassment of attending another victory party.  Lacy

·  I wish I could perfect my swimmers turn so I would stop banging my nose on the box – giving me a bloody nose.  Pandy

·  Did anybody get Tiffany’s number?  I hope she comes to the next tournament.  Dexter

·  I had fun. But I am sure that I will have more fun when I get to race.  Anne’Gun

·  I saw Mom talking to the Tournament Director about her dog’s previous litters of Border Jacks.  I think she has a lead on a Fly ball dog for Eileen.  Maggie

What a great time.  Our Glider team took Second Place on both Saturday and Sunday and the Flyers took First Place both days.  I am pumped for Auburn.  Get ready.  Get set.  Lets go!!
